Maximum Ride

Maximum Ride is an eight-book series, with the eighth book not coming out until 2012. The series is written by James Patterson, a very famous author who has written many books.

Each book has very short chapters, so it's easier to read if you're going by sections, though you shouldn't have to, because this is a book series that is going to keep you turning the pages. There are six people in the original group. Throughout the book they pick up another three people.

The book series is about six kids who were raised in a institute called The School, which performed genetic experiments, making recombinant life forms. (Genetically altered living beings.) The six kids the story revolves around are kids who were combined with avian DNA (bird genetics), and as a result they have wings, are very light, and can fly. But because of an accident trying to increase his vision, they end up blinding one of the kids, Iggy.

The six original characters:

Max- Leader, 14 years old, female.

Fang- Second-in-command, 14 years old, male.

Iggy- Regular member, 14 years old, male.

Nudge- Regular member, 11 years old, female.

Gazzy(The Gasman)- Regular member, eight years old, male.

Angel- Regular member, six years old, female.

During the series, they gain three members:

Total- Scottish Terrier, talks, grows wings in the fourth book. They meet Total at the end of the first book, but they find out he can talk in the second book.

Ari- Starts out as villain, becomes their ally in third book, mix between wolf and human. He was originally an Eraser, humans that could morph into wolves, but because of an accident, he is stuck in wolf form. Dies in third book, as his expiration date had come.

Dylan- Dylan is a bird kid like the others. He is introduced in the book Fang. He's eight years old, but was cloned from another Dylan that died in a car wreck, so he is made in the form of a 16-year old.
